Vikram University to be Renamed as Vikramaditya – Key Highlights from MP Assembly Monsoon Session 2025
Bhopal, State Bureau, Naiduniya: Vikram University in Ujjain will be renamed as Vikramaditya University. Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Technological University will be titled 'Kulguru'. The amendment bills for both changes will be presented in the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly starting July 28, 2025.
A meeting was held on July 17, 2025, led by Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, to review preparations for the session. He instructed senior officials to expedite the resolution of pending matters.
Supplementary Budget and Legislative Bills
The appropriation bill for the first supplementary budget of the year 2025–26 will also be introduced. The Parliamentary Affairs Department presented a report on pending matters during the meeting.
Status of Pending Questions
As of July 11, 2025, 59 zero-hour questions have been resolved while 79 remain pending. Additionally, there were 980 unanswered questions as of February 2025. With 182 new additions, the total reached 1,172, of which 271 have been resolved and 901 are still pending. Most of these are related to agriculture, general administration, and home affairs.
Departmental Input and Solutions
Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development, Ms. Deepali Rastogi, raised concerns about the volume of information required to answer some questions, involving thousands of pages from multiple districts. Other officials echoed the difficulty. In response, the Chief Secretary stated that departments could provide website links for publicly available data and submit documents as needed.
Unfulfilled Assurances
The report noted that 1,144 legislative assurances remain unfulfilled. Of these, 697 are from before February 2025, with 665 new ones added. The Urban Development and Housing Department has the highest number of pending assurances (267).
Chief Secretary instructed that cases which cannot be resolved for specific reasons should be communicated to the Assembly Secretariat for closure. Departments should organize a senior secretaries' committee meeting within the next 2–3 days to finalize pending or new legislative bills.
