Overseas Employment Opportunities for OBC Youth
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare, Smt. Krishna Gaur, stated that youth will now be provided employment opportunities not only in Japan but also in various countries across the world.
Under this initiative, candidates will receive high-quality residential training based on employer requirements, including domain-specific skills, soft skills, and language training of the destination country. After completion of training, selected youth will be placed in overseas jobs.
On 27 January, the State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, approved amendments to the name and provisions of the scheme previously run by the Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department titled “Scheme for Providing Overseas Employment to Unemployed Backward Class Youth – 2022.” The scheme will now be implemented as “Overseas Employment Placement Scheme for Other Backward Class Youth – 2026.”
Under the scheme, a target has been set to train and send 600 OBC youth abroad every year. Funding will be arranged through the departmental budget, along with Social Impact Bonds and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, ensuring no additional burden on the government treasury.
The implementation of the scheme will be carried out through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, or other government-recognized institutions. All advisories issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs will be strictly followed while sending youth abroad.
This scheme aims to provide economically weaker and unemployed OBC youth with better international employment opportunities, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute effectively to the mainstream of society.
