According to the
data released by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of the country
on 26 June 2018,
43.63 percent of the total population of the country has Hindi as their
mother tongue. It is a matter of pride for us that Hindi is the most widely
spoken language in the world after Chinese. The importance of Hindi language
can be understood from the fact that in Article 343(1) of the Constitution of India , Hindi in Devanagari script has been
declared the official language of the Union. Certainly, in the current scenario
of globalization and privatization, in view of India's growing economic
relations with other countries, the need for inter-education of the languages
of the respective economic partner countries has started being felt. Along with
this, the interest in Hindi language is also increasing day by day among
foreigners. This is the reason why many countries have established teaching
centers to promote Hindi language in their countries. Foreign students also
consider Hindi to be a popular and easily learnable Indian language.
It is worth
mentioning that with the immense popularity and growing international
importance of Hindi language , employment opportunities
in the field of Hindi language have also increased tremendously. It is
compulsory to work in Hindi language in various departments of the Central
Government and the governments of Hindi speaking states. Hence, there is a
plethora of various posts like Hindi Officer, Hindi Translator, Hindi
Assistant, Official Language Manager, Stenographer, Typist etc. in various
departments and units of the Central and State Governments. It is worth noting that with the advent of private television channels and FM radio channels and the Hindi
versions of established newspapers and magazines, employment opportunities in
this field have increased tremendously. There is a great need of editors , correspondents , reporters , news readers , sub-editors , proof readers etc. in the field of Hindi media and journalism. For those
who wish to get employment in these fields, it is very important to have
academic qualification in Hindi along with a degree or diploma in journalism , mass communication. One can also make a career as script writer , dialogue writer ,

work of translating film scripts , advertisements into
Hindi or English but to make a career in this field, it is necessary to have
bilingual proficiency. A person skilled in this field can earn his livelihood
as a freelance translator and after gaining experience, can also establish his
own translation firm.
Due to the reach
and increasing popularity of Hindi, major international publishing houses have
not only started publishing Hindi books but have also started publishing
translated versions of books achieving good sales targets in Hindi on a large
scale. Hence, there are bright career opportunities in these institutions as
translators , editors and composers. There is
a great demand for those who know proof reading and Hindi typing in newspapers
and magazines and publishers. You will find many people who can type in English
but typing in Hindi is still difficult for people. If along with having a
command over the Hindi language, Hindi typing is also learnt, then one can earn
good money by working in a publisher's office. There are bright employment
opportunities abroad for candidates who have done post graduation and PhD in
Hindi language. As a result of Hindi being accepted as a business language by
some countries, there is a tremendous demand for Hindi language teachers in
foreign universities. In India, one can also adopt the traditional teaching
profession as a teacher in schools ,
colleges and universities. There are also countless opportunities for those who want
to make their career in the field of teaching. After doing BA , B.Ed. one can become a TGT teacher/secondary school
teacher. Today there is a demand for TGT teachers all over the country. The
demand for PGT teachers/higher secondary school teachers is also no less. After getting 55 % marks in MA Hindi and clearing NET, doing M.Phil.
, PhD gives the
qualification to teach at college and university level. Hindi professors are
also appointed in non-Hindi speaking states. Their job is to enable the
non-Hindi speaking employees working in government offices to work in Hindi.
It is worth
mentioning that the Scientific and Technical Terminology Commission works under
the Government of India. Here scientific and technical words of Hindi and all
other Indian languages are defined and new words are developed. Here also there
are many employment opportunities for people proficient in Hindi language along
with knowledge of English. Today there are hundreds of television channels on
which programs are broadcast in Hindi. Even English channels like Animal Planet
, Discovery Channel and National Geography have to make
programs in Hindi. The market of Hindi has become so wide that these foreign
channels have also been forced to broadcast in Hindi language. Innumerable
serials are being broadcast in Hindi. These serials require script writers.
Foreign companies are also now preparing advertisements in Hindi. If you want
to work in the field of advertising, then there is no dearth of name and fame
in this field. When foreign channels and foreign media came to the country, it
seemed that the existence of Hindi would diminish , but the utility of Hindi is such that today the most
watched channel and the most read newspaper are in Hindi only. Hindi cinema has
also emerged as a powerful medium for the people. Many websites including BBC
are running their own Hindi portals. Microsoft has also launched an operating
system in Hindi to establish its dominance through Hindi.
After
globalization, Hindi has seen rapid changes. Today, the situation is such that
Hindi is formally taught in more than 100
institutions in
America. Today, a large number of foreign students are coming to India to learn
Hindi. Many technical jobs are being found on the strength of Hindi. Looking at
