Bridge Course Mandatory for B.Ed Primary Teachers in Madhya Pradesh
The Supreme Court issued an order on 11 August 2023 regarding the professional qualification of primary teachers. Teachers with B.Ed qualification appointed after this date will not be eligible for primary teacher positions. B.Ed qualified teachers appointed before this date, whose appointments are valid, must complete a six-month bridge course.
In Madhya Pradesh, the bridge course is mandatory for B.Ed qualified primary teachers. The course is offered by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), New Delhi through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. Teachers must register by 25 December. Failure to complete the course will result in termination.
The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) has issued guidelines to all District Education Officers (DEOs) and released the course schedule. After registration, teachers must complete the course within one year, otherwise their services will not continue.
Approximately 1.40 lakh primary teachers are employed in Madhya Pradesh. Among them, about 400 teachers appointed before 11 August 2023 with valid B.Ed qualifications are required to complete the bridge course.
