WPL 2026 Auction: Indore Players Shine, Kranti Gaud & Others in Spotlight
The first mega auction of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 will be held on November 27 in New Delhi. A total of 277 players will participate in this historic auction. Five teams will try to fill a maximum of 73 spots, including 50 Indian and 23 overseas players. Each team can have a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 players.
Madhya Pradesh Makes Big Impact
Madhya Pradesh women cricketers are making waves in the WPL 2026 auction. The state has 12 players in the auction list, including big names like Kranti Gaud, Pooja Vastrakar, and Shuchi Upadhyay. Last year, only two players from MP played. This time, both capped and uncapped talents are in the fray. The auction will be held on November 27 in New Delhi.
With 12 players in the auction, Madhya Pradesh ranks third after Delhi (15) and Railways (15), while Mumbai has 14. The biggest name is fast bowler Kranti Gaud, who played a key role in India winning the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Her base price is ₹50 lakh. All-rounder Pooja Vastrakar is making a comeback after injury, also with a base price of ₹50 lakh. Mandla's 19-year-old young bowler Shuchi Upadhyay impressed on the England tour and has a base price of ₹30 lakh in the capped category.
Uncapped Players from MP
The most experienced uncapped player is Siddhi Ki Sanskriti Gupta, part of Mumbai Indians’ winning team last season, with a base price of ₹20 lakh. Other uncapped players include Priyanka Kaushal (Indore), Rehila Firdous and Soumya Tiwari (Bhopal), Anushka Sharma and Vaishnavi Sharma (Gwalior), Nikita Singh (Rewa), Ayushi Shukla and Anadi Tagde (Indore), each with a base price of ₹10 lakh. Out of these 12 players, three are from Indore.
Arundhati Kirkire, Joint Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), said, “Women's cricket in our state is improving consistently. These players performed well in domestic tournaments and MP leagues. Franchise scouting teams have closely watched them. We hope at least 7-8 players get picked this time, which will be a big leap compared to previous years.”
