World's Tallest Bronze Statue of Lord Shri Ram Unveiled Today
At the historic Shri Sansthan Gokarna Jeevottam Math in South Goa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the world's tallest statue of Lord Shri Ram on 28th November. The 77-feet tall bronze statue has been created by the renowned sculptor Ram Sutar, who also crafted the 'Statue of Unity'.
PM Modi will arrive at the Math premises at 3:45 PM. A special helipad has been built inside the Math for his landing. After visiting the temple, the Prime Minister will address a public gathering. According to the Public Works Department Minister Digambar Kamat, this statue will be the tallest statue of Lord Ram in the world, increasing the spiritual and cultural significance of the Math. Being made of bronze, it is also expected to become a major tourist attraction in Goa.
The ceremony will also be attended by Goa Governor Ashok Gajapati Raju, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, and other members of the state cabinet. This event is considered one of the largest ever held at the Math.
PM Modi will visit the Math during the 550th anniversary celebrations 'Sardha Panchashatamotsav' of Shri Sansthan Gokarna Portuguese Jeevottam Math in Canacona, South Goa. He will unveil the 77-feet statue of Lord Ram and inaugurate the 'Ramayana Theme Park Garden' developed by the Math. A special postal stamp and commemorative coin will also be released, and the Prime Minister will address the attendees.
This unveiling is part of celebrations held from 27th November to 7th December marking the 550-year-old tradition of the Math. Established around 370 years ago in Canacona, South Goa, this Math is a major spiritual center and the first Gaud Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnav Math following the Dvaita tradition established by Jagadguru Madhvacharya in the 13th century. The Math is located on the banks of the Kushavati River in the small town of Portuguese in South Goa.
Organizers estimate that during the celebrations, 7,000 to 10,000 devotees will visit the Math daily. The premises have been decorated and renovated for the event.
