वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्रालय के 14 नवंबर को आंकड़ों के मुताबिक सब्जियों, दूध व बिजली समेत अन्य वस्तुओं की कीमतों में नरमी से थोक महंगाई अक्तूबर, 2023 में शून्य से 0.52 फीसदी नीचे रही। इस साल अप्रैल से यह लगातार सातवां महीना है, जब थोक मूल्य सूचकांक (डब्ल्यूपीआई) आधारित महंगाई शून्य से नीचे बनी हुई है। सितंबर, 2023 में थोक महंगाई शून्य से 0.26 फीसदी नीचे थी, जबकि अक्तूबर, 2022 में यह 8.67 फीसदी रही थी। डब्ल्यूपीआई महंगाई का शून्य से नीचे रहने का अर्थ कुल थोक कीमतों में सालाना आधार पर गिरावट है। वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्रालय के 14 नवंबर को आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, पिछले महीने खाद्य महंगाई घटकर 2.53 फीसदी पर आ गई। सितंबर में यह आंकड़ा 3.35 फीसदी था। इक्रा की मुख्य अर्थशास्त्री अदिति नायर ने कहा, डब्ल्यूपीआई अपस्फीति (सालाना महंगाई दर का शून्य से नीचे गिर जाना) सालाना आधार पर अक्तूबर में थोड़ा बढ़कर 0.5 फीसदी पहुंच गई। सितंबर में यह 0.3 फीसदी थी।

As of November 14, according to the figures released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, there has been a decrease of 0.52% in wholesale inflation in October 2023 compared to zero inflation. This marks the seventh consecutive month, starting from April this year, where the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation has remained below zero. In September 2023, wholesale inflation was 0.26% below zero, while in October 2022, it stood at 8.67%. The WPI below zero implies a decrease in wholesale prices on an annual basis. According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's data released on November 14, the food inflation component reduced by 2.53% in the previous month. In September, this figure was 3.35%. Icra's Chief Economist, Aditi Nayar, stated that the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) deflation (falling below zero on an annual basis) in October increased slightly to 0.5%, compared to 0.3% in September.
