Indore of Madhya Pradesh has achieved another national achievement. In the Fifth National Water Award, Indore district has been ranked first in the Best District category in the Western Zone. On October 22, President Draupadi Murmu presented this award to District Collector Ashish Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shivam Verma and District Panchayat CEO Siddharth Jain. It is worth noting that Indore got the first place award in the West Zone in the year 2018 and 2022. At the same time, Indore got second place in the Best Urban Body category in the year 2023. Along with taking the Water Award for the fourth time, Indore has also prepared to take the award for the fifth time. According to the CEO of the District Panchayat, now GIS mapping of all the rivers, ponds and wells of the district will be done. Through this, water will be conserved by continuously monitoring the reservoirs. The number of groundwater recharge will also be increased in the urban area. At present, water recharge units have been installed in one lakh houses in the urban area, and in the next one year these units will be installed in two to three lakh houses. Apart from this, the green cover in the district will be increased. Along with increasing the catchment area of Kanh and Saraswati rivers, work is also being done on a plan to save the water of these rivers by taking it to a new pond. Its objective is to consider the management and conservation of groundwater resources in urban areas. Commissioner Urban Administration and Development Bharat Yadav will be present as the chief guest in the workshop. Representatives of 418 urban bodies are participating in the workshop.
