Veterans and Madhya Pradesh Players in India's Squad for ICC Champions Trophy

The BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy. The announcement was made by selectors Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, revealing the 15-member Indian team.

Fast bowler Mohammad Shami makes a comeback to the team after a year, having been out since November 2023 due to injury. Also included is Jasprit Bumrah, who was sidelined during the Australia tour due to an injury.

The squad includes four all-rounders, with Rohit Sharma emphasizing the importance of having players who can bowl and bat when required.

Rohit Sharma mentioned, "I have played a lot of cricket. Whether it's white-ball or red-ball cricket, I'll continue to play for the domestic Ranji Trophy." He further added, "Options like these are beneficial for us, who can bowl and bat when necessary."

The ICC Champions Trophy will be held from February 19 to March 9, 2025, across four cities in Pakistan and the UAE—Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Dubai. All of India's matches will be played in Dubai, with the highly anticipated match against Pakistan scheduled for February 23, 2025
