Vedika Bhansali Wins US Kids Golf World Championship Title

On August 3, India’s Vedika Bhansali became the champion at the US Kids Golf World Championship held in Pinehurst Village. Competing in the girls' 9-year category, Vedika recorded the best score with a 4-under 32 round. Her final score of 10-under came from rounds of 33, 33, and 32.

She edged out Japan’s Emi Minami by one shot and the USA’s Audrey Zhang by two shots. Vedika had finished fourth in the same category last year.

In the girls' 11-year category, Bengaluru’s Aida Thimmaiah finished third with rounds of 75, 68, and 66, scoring 6-under in her final round and 7-under overall. America’s Bella Simos (66-62-67) took the top spot, while former Indian cricketer S. Venkataraghavan’s granddaughter Ananya Venkatraghavan (70-69-67) finished second with a 10-under score.

Two other Indian players also placed in the top 8. Chandigarh’s Nihal Cheema, a medalist last year, tied for fourth in the boys' 8-year category with scores of 38, 39, and 35. In the boys' 10-year category, Noida’s Kabir Goyal placed eighth with rounds of 72, 70, and 68.
