Vaishno Devi Pilgrims’ Insurance Cover Increased to ₹10 Lakh
A global spiritual museum dedicated to Mata Vaishno Devi will be established at the base camp Katra. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has approved the initial concept of the international Shakti Museum in consultation with the Asian Heritage Foundation.
The proposed museum will be set up in the Nathatop area of Katra and will serve as a religious, educational, and cultural center. A state-of-the-art light and sound show will present mythological stories through a blend of tradition and innovation. The project is expected to be completed within two years.
Several key decisions were taken during the Shrine Board meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, aimed at improving pilgrim facilities and ensuring employee welfare.

The Board also approved a rehabilitation plan for service providers such as pony owners, in line with National Green Tribunal guidelines. A committee has been formed to suggest strategies to enhance pilgrim experience and increase footfall.
Local Procurement and Katra Development
Prasad and other materials will be procured locally from self-help groups, women, and local entrepreneurs to strengthen the regional economy. The Board also committed to the overall development of Katra city.
Insurance Cover Increased
To enhance pilgrim safety, the insurance cover has been increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh per pilgrim. The Shrine Board also emphasized sports development, priest training, infrastructure upgrades, and environmental protection.
Progress of major projects such as the Bhawan exit track, New Vaishnavi Bhawan, widening of the Sanjichhat–Bhawan route, slope stabilization works, Shri Shankaracharya Temple in Katra, and the Divyang School in Jammu was reviewed.
