US Second Lady Usha Vance to Attend Indian Diaspora Event for the First Time

On June 1, US Second Lady Usha Vance recalled her trip to India and her children’s memorable meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) in Washington D.C., she said, “When we were at the Prime Minister’s residence, our son was deeply impressed. He told the Prime Minister that he felt he could maybe live there.”

Usha Vance, wife of US Senator JD Vance, described India-US relations as deeply personal. She emphasized that this is a great opportunity for both countries whose ties have seen ups and downs over the years.

“This relationship is very personal to me because I have family members living in India and many of them also in the United States,” Usha said. “I grew up visiting India and connecting with my extended family. It’s a relationship I’ve always found personally meaningful.”
