US Revokes 100,000 Visas in 2025, Including 8,000 Student Visas

In a wide-ranging crackdown on immigrants involved in criminal activities, the United States revoked more than 100,000 visas, including 8,000 student visas, in 2025. The U.S. State Department posted on social media on Monday, stating, "We will continue to extradite these criminals to keep America safe."

The post further stated, "As part of enforcing criminal activity laws, the State Department has revoked 8,000 student visas and 2,500 special visas, along with over 100,000 total visas."

U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesman Tommy Piggott noted that in less than a year, the Trump administration had revoked over 100,000 visas. These included visas for thousands of foreign nationals accused or convicted of crimes such as assault, theft, and driving under the influence (DUI). In comparison, during the last year of former President Joe Biden’s tenure in 2024, 40,000 visas were revoked. The revocation numbers in 2025 were more than double that of the previous year.

The report also mentioned that most of the individuals whose visas were revoked in 2025 were business travelers and tourists who overstayed their visas beyond the authorized duration in the country.
