UIDAI Launches Uday, the Aadhaar Mascot
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched the official mascot of Aadhaar, Uday, on January 9. The mascot is designed to make information about Aadhaar services simple and accessible to people. Uday will help users understand various Aadhaar-related services such as updates, authentication, offline verification, information sharing, adoption of new technology, and responsible usage.
In the mascot design competition, Arun Gokul from Thrissur, Kerala, won first place, Idris Davaiwala from Pune, Maharashtra, secured second place, and Krishna Sharma from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, won third place. In the mascot naming competition, Riya Jain from Bhopal won first prize, Idris Davaiwala second, and Maharaj Saran Chellapilla from Hyderabad third.
UIDAI Chairman Neelkanth Mishra released the mascot at a ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram and honored the winners. He stated that the mascot is a step towards making Aadhaar-related communication simpler, more inclusive, and accessible for over one billion people in India.
