Trump Waives $100,000 H-1B Visa Fee for Indian Students and Professionals

Trump's Offer: Indian Students Can Apply from the U.S., ₹88 Lakh Visa Fee Waived

There is good news for H-1B visa holders in the United States. The Trump administration has waived a massive $100,000 visa fee (approximately ₹88 lakh), bringing relief to Indian professionals. This exemption applies to existing visa holders, students, and those applying for visa renewal.

The new rules will also benefit applicants who applied before September 21, 2025. The decision is expected to ease concerns for many Indian workers.

This is a major relief for thousands of Indian tech professionals and students residing in the U.S. The Trump administration clarified that those already in the country — especially international graduates and existing H-1B visa holders — will not have to pay the heavy fee.

This announcement has reduced anxiety among Indian workers, U.S. employers, and immigration attorneys. Just last month, the Trump administration had introduced this high fee for foreign skilled workers, which had sparked widespread concern, particularly among Indian professionals.

According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the $100,000 fee will not apply to those already residing in the United States on a valid visa. This includes holders of F-1 student visas, L-1 intra-company transfers, and current H-1B visa holders who are applying for renewals or extensions.
