Traditional Medicine to be Integrated with Cancer Treatment

Emphasizing the importance of traditional medicine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his happiness before global experts that the Ministry of AYUSH and the WHO Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar have taken a new initiative in India for cancer treatment.

He expressed hope that the combined efforts will integrate traditional medical systems with modern cancer treatment, and that this initiative will also be helpful in preparing evidence-based guidelines.

During the closing session of the global summit on traditional medicine organized by the WHO, PM Modi stated that the three-day dialogue paved the way for the Delhi Declaration, which will serve as a shared roadmap for the coming years.

At the closing session held at India Mandapam, PM Modi remarked that there was once a belief that traditional medicine was limited to health or lifestyle, but today this perception is rapidly changing. Traditional medicine can play an effective role even in serious conditions, and India is moving forward with this mindset.

He said that in the last three days, experts from around the world participated in meaningful and serious discussions in the field of traditional medicine. India is providing a strong platform for this purpose, with active participation from WHO. The Prime Minister also mentioned that it is a matter of pride for India that the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine has been established in Jamnagar.
