Tata Projects Limited Blacklisted for Three Years in Ujjain
Blacklisting Order Issued
On November 20, Ujjain Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhilash Mishra issued an order blacklisting Tata Projects Limited, Mumbai, for a period of three years. The company was engaged in the city’s sewerage project but failed to complete the work on time.
The Commissioner stated that Tata Projects Limited consistently delayed the project and failed to achieve the required progress. This slow pace created obstacles for the ongoing development works in Ujjain. The order prevents the company from participating in any government department work across Madhya Pradesh for the next three years.
Project Assigned to Tata in 2017
The municipal corporation awarded Tata Projects the sewerage improvement project in 2017. The company was required to complete the project by November 2019. However, even after six years past the deadline, the project remains incomplete.
The sluggish progress has caused inconvenience to citizens, disrupting essential services such as roads and drinking water systems. Multiple wards reported complaints regarding the poor condition of sewerage lines. Recently, Ward 2 Councillor Hemant Gehlot raised concerns about substandard work and sewer water overflowing onto roads. Officials inspected the site and expressed strong dissatisfaction.
Strict Action Taken Due to Delay
Ujjain Municipal Corporation took stern action against Tata Projects for delaying the sewerage project for six years, failing to speed up the work despite repeated notices, and hampering preparations for Simhastha 2028. As per the Commissioner’s order, Tata Projects is now barred from working with any department of the state government.
The slow work, negligence, and repeated delays severely affected the development pace of the city.
Assigned Targets and Work Progress
In 2017, the municipal corporation provided Tata Projects with clear targets to improve Ujjain’s sewerage system. Despite this, the company failed to complete the assigned tasks within the stipulated period.
