Tansen Award 2024 & 2025 Announced: Pt. Raja Kale and Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya to be Honoured

On November 21, Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and Religious Trusts, Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi announced that the National Tansen Award 2024 will be conferred upon Pandit Raja Kale from Mumbai, while the National Tansen Award 2025 will be presented to Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya from Kolkata.

The Raja Mansingh Tomar National Award 2024 will be given to Sadhna Parmarthik Sanstha–Samiti, Khargone, and the Raja Mansingh Tomar National Award 2025 will be awarded to Raagayan, Gwalior.

These honours will be presented during the 101st Tansen Festival, scheduled to be held in Gwalior from 15 to 19 December 2025.

Every year, the Culture Department awards the National Tansen Award for excellence in Hindustani classical music and the Raja Mansingh Tomar National Award to institutions working in the fields of music, culture, and arts. Each award carries a cash prize of ₹5 lakh and a citation.

The National Tansen Award has been presented since 1980, and so far, 55 artists have been honoured. The 2023 Tansen Award was presented to Pandit Swapan Chowdhury of Kolkata (Tabla maestro). The Raja Mansingh Tomar National Award, given since 2011, has so far honoured 13 institutions. In 2023, this award went to Sanand Nyas, Indore.
