Dr. Suresh Awasthi to Receive National Poet Pradeep Award

The Madhya Pradesh government, through its Department of Culture, established the prestigious National Poet Pradeep Award in 2012. This award is given to poets or writers for their outstanding contribution to stage poetry. The award includes a cash prize of five lakh rupees and a certificate of honor. The government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to present the National Poet Pradeep Award in 2023 to Dr. Suresh Awasthi, an internationally renowned poet, educator, and senior journalist from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The award will be presented to Dr. Awasthi on January 25, during a ceremony held at the Ravindra Bhavan Auditorium, on the eve of Republic Day.

Dr. Suresh Awasthi is a poet, educator, and senior journalist who has received the Rashtrapati Award. His literary works include poetry collections like "Aandhi Bargad Aur Log," short story collections like "Sheetyudh," and several satirical works including "Chappa Chappa Charkha Chale" and "No Tension." He is also known for his contributions to Hindi teaching and literature dissemination. Dr. Awasthi has been honored with numerous awards, including the President’s Award in 2008, the Pandit Shri Narayan Chaturvedi Smriti Award, the Kaka Hathrasi Smriti Award, and the Vikramaditya Award from Madhya Pradesh. His international accolades include honors from the Indian High Commission in London and the UK Hindi Samiti, as well as recognition in the US and Canada.
