Supplementary Budget Under 10,000 Crore in MP Assembly Monsoon Session 2025

Supplementary Budget Under ₹10,000 Crore Likely in MP Assembly

The Madhya Pradesh Government will present the first supplementary budget for the financial year 2025-26 during the monsoon session of the Assembly, starting July 28. The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will review and approve the proposal submitted by the Finance Department.

The budget is expected to be within ₹10,000 crore as the state adopted zero-based budgeting this year. Additional funds will be allocated to construction departments under the Central Special Capital Assistance Scheme. Some legislative bills are also expected to be tabled during the session.

Budget Planning Until 2028-29 Assembly Elections

For the first time, the MP Government is preparing the budget with the 2028 Assembly elections in mind. Departments are being asked to estimate the fund requirements for each scheme until FY 2028-29. Departments will also identify ongoing schemes that need continuation.

The budget must factor in increased spending on salaries and allowances, especially as the government plans to recruit over 250,000 employees in the next three years. By 2028-29, the state's GSDP is projected to reach ₹27.7 lakh crore with the budget touching ₹5.59 lakh crore.

Last year, the state implemented a zero-based budget, assessing each scheme from scratch, and presented a budget exceeding ₹4.21 lakh crore.
