'Sounds of Kumbh' Album Nominated for Grammy Awards 2026
The album 'Sounds of Kumbh' has been nominated in the Best Global Music Album category at the 68th Grammy Awards. Inspired by the Mahakumbh festival, the album is presented by singer-composer Siddhant Bhatia and marks a significant achievement for Indian music.
The album contains 12 tracks and features contributions from nearly 50 artists from India and abroad. It captures the essence of the Mahakumbh held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, which took place over 45 days in January and February this year and attracted a large number of pilgrims.
Production Details
'Sounds of Kumbh' includes live field recordings from Prayagraj, featuring ancient mantras and binaural beats. Apart from Siddhant Bhatia, contributors include Jim Kimo West, Raghav Mehta, Maddy Das, Ron Korb, Charu Suri, and Devraj Sanyal. Featured artists include V Selvagnesh, Raja Kumari, Aditya Gadhvi, Kanika Kapoor, Kala Ramnath, Bhanumathi Narasimhan, Praveen Godkhindi, Ajay Prasanna, and Kalyani Nair.
Significance of the Grammy Nomination
Commenting on the Grammy nomination, Siddhant Bhatia said that it is recognition of the message of peace and unity of the Kumbh Mela. Recognition by the Recording Academy is a milestone for Indian music. The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
