Sonam Yeshe Becomes the First Bowler to Take 8 Wickets in a T20 International
Sonam Yeshe, the left-arm spinner from Bhutan, made history in T20 International cricket by becoming the first-ever bowler to take 8 wickets in a single T20 match. He achieved this remarkable feat on December 26 during the third T20 match played against Myanmar at the Gelefu Mindfulness City in Bhutan.
The 22-year-old bowler took an incredible 8 wickets for just 7 runs in his 4-over spell, helping Bhutan bowl out Myanmar for just 45 runs. Before this, Bhutan had set a target of 127 runs by scoring 127/9 in their allotted overs.
Bhutan Cricket shared the news on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating: "An unforgettable bowling spell that will be remembered for ages! Sonam Yeshe's 8/7 in 4 overs sets a world record!"
This remarkable performance surpassed the previous best bowling performance in T20 internationals, where Malaysia's Syazrul Idrus had taken 7 wickets for 8 runs against China in 2023. Additionally, Bahrain's Ali Dawood had taken 7 wickets for 19 runs against Bhutan earlier in the same year, becoming the second bowler to take 7 wickets in T20 internationals.
This achievement places Sonam Yeshe at the top of T20 International bowling records, setting an inspiring benchmark in the cricket world.
