Smart PDS System to Launch in Madhya Pradesh from June 1, eKYC 87% Complete

Starting June 1, Madhya Pradesh will implement the Smart Public Distribution System (Smart PDS) aimed at ensuring transparency in ration distribution. This system was initially scheduled to go live on May 1, but was delayed due to pending eKYC verification.

As of now, 87% of consumers in the state have completed their eKYC. The goal is to complete the remaining verifications by May 31, which is also the final deadline for eKYC submission.

Central Government to Monitor Directly

Once implemented, the central government will be able to monitor ration distribution directly. The Smart PDS aims to standardize food grain distribution across all states, eliminating discrepancies caused by individual state-level modifications.

Currently, some states still distribute food rations to APL (Above Poverty Line) families, which will be discontinued under this system. India already follows the One Nation One Ration Card model, allowing eligible beneficiaries to receive rations from anywhere in the country.

Update on Madarsa Board Applications

Meanwhile, in Bhopal, the Madarsa Board has announced the opening of the online application window for recognition renewal for the academic session 2025–26. Applications will be accepted between May 23 and June 30.

This will be the final opportunity for Madarsas recognized up to 2022 to apply. Post this period, they will no longer be eligible for online renewal.

Applicants must submit one copy of the application with all supporting documents to the Board office, and another copy to the District Education Officer’s office. Detailed guidelines are available on the official Madarsa Board website and MP Online portal.
