Sikkim Becomes India’s First Fully Paperless Judiciary State
Sikkim has become the first state in India to adopt a fully paperless judiciary system. This historic announcement was made by the Chief Justice of India (CJI), Surya Kant, during a conference held in Gangtok on May 1, 2026.
With this initiative, courts in Sikkim will now operate through e-filing systems and digital case management, eliminating the need for physical paperwork.
The move is expected to make the judicial process faster, more transparent, and technology-driven, marking a significant step in judicial reforms in India.
