The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Senegal free from trachoma, a bacterial eye infection that can cause blindness.
With this achievement, Senegal has become the 25th country in the world and the 9th country in Africa to eliminate trachoma as a public health problem.
This marks a major milestone for Senegal’s healthcare system, as trachoma is no longer considered a significant health threat in the country.
