Sanjeev Kumar Jha Appointed as New Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh
Sanjeev Kumar Jha, a 1996 batch IAS officer and current member of the Revenue Board, has been appointed as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Madhya Pradesh. The Election Commission of India has approved the proposal sent by the Madhya Pradesh government.
With Jha’s appointment as CEO, it is now confirmed that the current Chief Electoral Officer, Sukhveer Singh (1997 batch IAS officer), will return to state administration. Singh served as CEO for around 8.5 months, having been appointed to the role on August 27, 2024.
Interestingly, Sanjeev Kumar Jha was also posted to the Revenue Board on August 23, 2024. Now, he will be returning from that assignment to take over the CEO position.
Reports indicate that shortly after Singh’s posting as CEO, the state government had proposed a change in leadership and sent a new recommendation to the Election Commission, which has now been approved.
