Dr Agarwal was awarded Padma Shri in 1990 and Padma Bhushan in 2000 for his important contribution in missile technology. He breathed his last at his home in Hyderabad at the age of 83. RN Agarwal played an important role in the long-range ballistic missile program in India. He was the first project director of Agni missiles. He was also known as Agni Man.
