Readymade Garment Park in Bhopal and Plug-and-Play Complex in Indore
On May 19, the Madhya Pradesh government ramped up efforts to attract investments in the textile sector. A Readymade Garment Park is being developed in Satgarhi, Bhopal, and a Plug-and-Play Garment Complex is being set up in Pardeshipura, Indore.
Bhopal Project Highlights:
- Garment park proposed on 61 hectares by MPIDC in Satgarhi, Kolar Road.
- 4-lane, 2.2 km approach road to be built at a cost of ₹20 crore.
- Proximity to NH-46 and the airport increases investor interest.
- Manufacturers from Kolkata and South India are showing interest.
- CM will meet textile companies in Ludhiana on May 27 for investment discussions.
Indore Project Highlights:
- Plug-and-play multistorey complex at the unused portion of existing garment park in Pardeshipura.
- Four blocks to be built with ₹154 crore investment.
- 184 units will be allocated plots ranging from 1500 to 3300 sq. ft.
- MPIDC will provide infrastructure facilities.
Development of Bhopal & Indore as Metropolitan Regions:
The state is finalizing the ‘MP Metropolitan Planning and Development Act 2025’. It will be presented in the cabinet meeting on May 20 in Indore. Once passed:
- Separate Metropolitan Planning Committees (MPC) and Metropolitan Region Development Authorities (MRDA) will be formed for Bhopal and Indore.
- These bodies will coordinate development works, monitor projects, and implement planning initiatives.
- They will manage land banks to support township and infrastructure projects.
Focus Areas in Metropolitan Development:
- Industry and Transport: New industrial zones connecting Mandideep and Acharpura (Bhopal), and expanding Pithampur Industrial Area (Indore) for better export-import facilities and employment generation.
- Environment: Protection of water bodies, catchment areas, groundwater recharge, flood control, and conservation of archaeological and tourism sites.
- Public Transport: Integration of metro, rail, air, and rapid transit systems under a new Transport Authority for smart connectivity and traffic management.
Proposed Names for Metropolitan Regions:
- Bhopal: Bhojpal Metropolitan Region, Bhopal Metropolitan Region, or State Capital Region.
- Indore: Avantika Metropolitan Region, Malwa Metropolitan Region, or Indore-Ujjain Metropolitan Region.
The final decision on naming will be taken in the cabinet meeting.
