Portugal Wins FIFA U-17 World Cup by Defeating Austria

Portugal defeated Austria 1-0 in the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup to win their first global title in this age category. Benfica forward Anisio Cabral scored the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute of the final, which featured 48 participating nations and was held on 27 November.

Earlier, Italy defeated Brazil 4-2 in a penalty shootout to claim third place, with goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni saving two penalties to secure Italy’s victory. European teams dominated the top three positions in the tournament.

This was the 20th edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup. FIFA has now decided to hold this tournament annually, instead of every two years.
