PM Modi Inaugurates Kartavya Bhawan 3: "Nation’s Direction Will Be Determined From Here"
On August 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kartavya Bhawan-03 building at Kartavya Path in Delhi. Addressing a public event afterward, PM Modi declared August as the month of revolutions and milestones. He said, "Ahead of August 15, we are witnessing historic moments one after another, especially in terms of modern infrastructure."
He added, "Kartavya Path, the new Parliament building, the new Defence complex, Bharat Mandapam, National War Memorial, and now Kartavya Bhawan—these aren't just ordinary infrastructure pieces. From here, policies of a developed India will be shaped, and critical decisions will be made. The nation's direction will be decided from these places."
Kartavya – More Than Just a Word
PM Modi said, "After a lot of thought, we named this building 'Kartavya Bhawan'. Names like Kartavya Path and Kartavya Bhawan represent the core values of our democracy and Constitution."
"In Indian culture, 'Kartavya' (duty) is not limited to responsibility. It is rooted in action and purpose. This building is not just bricks and cement—it is the sacred ground where the dreams of millions of Indians will be realized. Kartavya is the beginning. It is the willpower that ignites light in every life. It carries the life energy of Mother India."
Modern Infrastructure for a Modern India
Modi emphasized the need for modern offices: "21st-century India needs modern facilities and efficient workplaces. Kartavya Bhawan is the first of many large buildings being constructed around Kartavya Path to bring government offices closer together."
"Currently, many ministries operate from over 50 different locations across Delhi, most of which are rented. The government spends around ₹1,500 crore annually on rent. Kartavya Bhawan also has solar panels installed on the rooftop to support sustainability."
Holistic Development Across the Nation
PM Modi stated, "Our government is working with a holistic vision for the country's development. No corner of India is untouched by progress."
- Over 30,000 Panchayat Bhawans have been built
- More than 4 crore pucca houses have been provided for the poor
- 300+ new medical colleges have been established
- More than 1,300 Amrit Bharat railway stations are being constructed
- Nearly 90 new airports are under development
Good Governance Rooted in Duty
Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, PM Modi said, "Rights and duties go hand-in-hand. When a government fulfills its duties seriously, it reflects in governance." He described the last decade as a decade of good governance for the country.
