PM Modi in Assam: ₹18,500 Cr Projects Launched, Slams Congress Over Bhupen Hazarika Remark

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam entered its second day today. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for infrastructure and industrial projects worth ₹18,500 crore in Darrang and Numaligarh, Golaghat. The Prime Minister also addressed public gatherings at both locations.

While speaking in Darrang, PM Modi said, "When we awarded Bharat Ratna to Bhupen Hazarika, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge commented that Modi is giving the Bharat Ratna to singers and dancers. They may hurl as many abuses at me as they want—I'm a devotee of Lord Shiva, I can absorb all poison. But I cannot tolerate the insult of others."

In Numaligarh, the Prime Minister attacked the Congress, saying, "During their regime, the poor were neglected and injustice was done to tribal communities. Our mantra is 'Citizen is God'. For us, the public is divine. The BJP government is committed to ensuring citizens do not face any inconvenience."

PM Modi arrived in Guwahati on 13th September. He went straight from the airport to attend a special tribute ceremony for legendary folk singer Bhupen Hazarika. Later that night, he stayed at the State Guest House. Prior to his Assam visit, the Prime Minister had also inaugurated multiple development projects in Mizoram and Manipur on the same day, 13th September.
