PM Modi Gifts ₹35,440 Crore to Farmers Ahead of Diwali
On October 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two major agricultural initiatives with a combined outlay of ₹35,440 crore. These include a mission focused on making India self-reliant in pulses and encouraging farmers to boost production to meet both domestic and global demand.
In a significant pre-Diwali gesture, the Modi government offered a major gift to farmers. At a special agricultural program held in New Delhi, PM Modi launched, inaugurated, and laid the foundation for multiple projects and schemes in agriculture and allied sectors worth over ₹42,000 crore.
During the event held at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (Pusa Campus), PM Modi unveiled two flagship schemes — the ‘PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana’ and the ‘Pulses Self-Reliance Mission’, together having an investment of over ₹35,000 crore.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated projects worth more than ₹5,450 crore related to agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors. Additionally, he laid the foundation for new projects worth approximately ₹815 crore.
The PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, with an outlay of ₹24,000 crore, aims to enhance agricultural productivity, encourage crop diversification, promote sustainable farming practices, improve irrigation facilities, and ensure availability of both short and long-term credit in 100 selected districts.
While addressing the gathering at the Pusa campus, PM Modi emphasized that farmers have a vital role in realizing the dream of a developed India by 2047.
