Palash Mandal Wins Bronze in Boys' 5000m Race Walk at Asian Youth Games

On October 24, India’s Palash Mandal won the bronze medal in the boys’ 5000-meter race walk at the Asian Youth Games (AYG). Mandal finished the final in 24:48.92, securing third place.

China’s Haojie Zhang won the gold with 21:43.82, while his compatriot Yuji Lu took silver with 22:28.64. The meet record for this event is held by India’s Nitin Gupta, who clocked 19:24.48 in Patna in 2025.

As of October 27, India has won two gold, three silver, and seven bronze medals in this continental tournament. China leads the medal tally with eight gold, 11 silver, and two bronze medals, followed by Thailand (six gold, two silver, two bronze) and Uzbekistan (six gold, two silver, two bronze).

This competition features athletes from 45 national federations competing in 21 sports for a total of 1,677 medals (505 gold, 503 silver, and 669 bronze).
