Online Gaming Bill Approved by President Draupadi Murmu

On August 22, President Draupadi Murmu gave her approval to the Online Gaming (Promotion and Regulation) Bill 2025. The bill was passed by both houses of Parliament earlier this week.

The main aim of this law is to promote e-sports and social games while completely banning online real-money games. The government stated that this move will help prevent addiction, financial losses, and risks like suicides associated with online gambling.

Furthermore, e-sports will now receive legal recognition, opening new avenues for youth engagement in sports.
