India's Gulveer Singh broke his own national record in the men's 5000m event at the Yogibo Athletics Challenge Cup 2024 meet in Niigata, Japan on 28 September. Gulveer Singh won the race by clocking 13:11.82 seconds at the Denka Big Swan Stadium, which hosted the two-day World Continental Tour Bronze level competition. The 26-year-old Indian athlete had set the national record earlier this year at the Portland Track Festival athletics meet in the United States, bettering compatriot Avinash Sable with a time of 13:18.92. At the Yogibo Athletics Challenge Cup 2024, he set a new national record by clocking 7 seconds less.
