The announcement of winners for the Nobel Prize 2024 has started from October 7. The Nobel Prize in the field of Medicine or Physiology has been announced on October 7. The Nobel Prize for Medicine 2024 has been awarded to Victor Ambrose and Gary Ruvkun. They have been given this prize for the discovery of micro RNA (ribonucleic acid). Micro RNA shows how cells are formed and function in the body. Both gene scientists discovered micro RNA in 1993. Human genes are made up of DNA and RNA. Micro RNA is part of the original RNA. It has evolved in the genome of multicellular organisms for the last 500 million years. So far, more than one thousand genes of different types of micro RNA have been discovered in humans. Cells and tissues cannot develop in the human body without micro RNA. Diseases like cancer and diabetes can occur due to abnormal changes in micro RNA. Due to mutation in the gene coding of micro RNA, a person faces problems in hearing ability, eyes and physical structure. These prizes are being given in Stockholm, Sweden. In the Nobel Prize, a cash prize of 11 million Swedish Kroner i.e. about 8.90 crore rupees will be given.
