Non-Hindus to be Restricted from Entry in 46 Uttarakhand Temples
The Gangotri Dham Temple Committee has decided to restrict the entry of non-Hindus in the temples of Gangotri Dham and Ganga during the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. According to the committee officials, people of Sikh and Buddhist faiths will be allowed entry, but followers of other religions will be completely prohibited.
The committee stated that individuals from other religious communities do not respect Sanatan Dharma. After the Badri Kedarnath Temple Committee restricted non-Hindu entry in its temples, Gangotri Dham Temple Committee officials held a meeting regarding this issue.
Committee Secretary Suresh Semwal said that for a long time, the priests at Gangotri Dham had been requesting restrictions on non-Hindus, and now with a new initiative, the request has been supported. Starting from the upcoming Char Dham Yatra in April, the rule will be enforced. No non-Hindus will be allowed to enter or come near the temple premises. This restriction will not apply to Sikhs and Buddhists, as they are considered part of Sanatan Dharma. However, people from Muslim and Christian communities will not be allowed entry.
Semwal added that anyone who cannot respect Sanatan Dharma will not be permitted near the temple premises.
