Performance of Indore's Institutions in NIRF 2023 Rankings
Indore's educational institutions have maintained a strong presence in the latest NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) 2023 rankings released by the Ministry of Education.
IIT Indore
- Engineering Category: Ranked 14th (up from 16th last year).
- Overall Category: Improved from 31st to 28th position.
- Research Category: Ranked 24th.
- Score increased from 61.68 to 63.93.
IIM Indore
- Management Category: Ranked 8th.
- Previous Rankings: 7th in 2022, 6th in 2021.
- Despite a drop in rank, the score improved from 70.66 to 71.95.
- Director Dr. Himanshu Rai noted improved scores and highlighted the 26th position in Asia in last year's QS World University Ranking.
SGSITS (Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science)
- Last year ranked 202nd in Engineering.
- This year, ranks beyond 100 were not disclosed.
Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore
- Secured a place in the 101-125 rank band in the Management Category.
University Category & Research Insights
- Maintained last year’s rank band of 100-151.
- 212 teaching positions remain vacant.
- Over six new research projects launched; patent filings increased.
- Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Jain stated interviews for 91 positions are scheduled next month.
National Highlights
- IIT Madras retained top position for the 5th consecutive year.
- IISc Bangalore ranked second.

Remarks from IIT Madras Director
Prof. V. Kamakoti shared that IIT Madras launched 15 Centers of Excellence in emerging fields like construction, healthcare, marine, genomics, and sports. Initiatives such as BSc programs under "IIT Madras for All" vision contributed to continued top ranking.
