The Nigerian government on 17 November awarded PM Narendra Modi the second highest civilian honor of its country. The name of this honor is Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger. Nigerian President Hola Ahmed Tinubu gave it to PM Modi in a grand ceremony in the capital Abuja. Before PM Modi, this honor was given only to Britain's former Queen late Elizabeth in the year 1969. While accepting the honor, PM Modi said, 'I very humbly dedicate it to 140 Indians and the friendship between India and Nigeria. For this, I thank the Nigerian government and the citizens of Nigeria.' This is the 17th top civilian honor given to PM Modi by a foreign government. He is now also being recognized as the global leader who has received the most foreign honors in the world.
