New Zealand Win First ODI Series in India, India Lose First ODI at Holkar
New Zealand created history by winning their first-ever One Day International (ODI) series in India. In the third ODI played at the Holkar Stadium, Indore, the Kiwi team defeated India by 41 runs. This also marked India’s first ODI defeat at this venue.
January 18 turned out to be a record-breaking day for Virat Kohli. He became the highest run-scorer at number three in ODI history and also set the record for scoring the most centuries against New Zealand in ODIs. However, his efforts were not enough to guide India to victory.
Chasing a challenging target of 338 runs, the Indian team was bowled out for 296 runs in 46 overs. Earlier, after losing the toss, New Zealand posted a strong total of 337 runs for 8 wickets.
Daryl Mitchell played a magnificent knock of 137 runs, while Glenn Phillips contributed a brilliant 106-run century to power New Zealand to a commanding score.
