The new cabinet of the Bhupendra Patel government in Gujarat has taken oath. 26 MLAs have been made ministers, including 3 women. Along with the Chief Minister, 8 ministers belong to the Patel community. The cabinet includes 8 OBC, 3 SC, 4 ST, and 3 women ministers. There are 19 new faces in the cabinet.
Harsh Sanghvi took oath first and was appointed Deputy Chief Minister. Previously, he served as the state’s Home Minister. Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wife, Rivaba, has also been made a minister. Earlier, on October 16, all 16 ministers had submitted their resignations to the Chief Minister.
This reshuffle is seen as a preparation for the 2027 assembly elections in the state. Previously, the Gujarat cabinet had 17 ministers including the Chief Minister, consisting of 8 cabinet ministers and 8 Ministers of State (MoS). Now, this number has increased to 26.
