NEET UG 2026: Entry Allowed Even if Biometric Verification Fails
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on May 3, 2026. The NTA has made an important decision regarding biometric verification, providing relief to millions of students appearing for the exam.
In a notification issued on the night of April 29, it was clarified that biometric verification will be conducted after security checks at the examination center. However, if this process cannot be completed due to any reason, students will still be allowed entry into the exam center.
Approximately 2.25 million students have registered for NEET-UG across the country.
Self-Declaration Form Requirement
According to education expert Dev Sharma, biometric verification is a technical process involving fingerprint scanning. Issues such as device malfunction, internet connectivity problems, or data mismatch may arise, causing stress for students at the last moment.
With this new decision by NTA, such technical issues will not directly impact students’ ability to take the exam.
If a candidate's biometric verification is not completed, they will be required to submit a written undertaking (self-declaration form) at the examination center. This form will be available at the center itself. After submission, the student will be allowed to enter the examination hall.
Important Exam Day Instruction
NTA has also clarified that biometric verification will not be conducted during the exam hours, which are from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This ensures that students can take the exam peacefully without any interruptions.
