NCC to be Restarted in 596 Colleges Across the State
To make youth capable of handling emergency situations, NCC and disaster management training will now be strengthened at the college level. The Higher Education Department has issued instructions to 596 government colleges to reinforce existing NCC units and restart them where they are currently inactive.
The initiative aims to connect approximately 190,000 young individuals with NCC programs. Currently, NCC units in nearly 180 colleges are either non-functional or exist only on paper.
As per requirements, the number of NCC seats will also be increased. Colleges have been instructed to ensure proper arrangements such as parade grounds and storage rooms.
Under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, NCC has been introduced as an optional subject. However, nearly 100,000 students are still not part of the program.
Training Focus
