National Unity Day 2025: Run for Unity and Tribute to Sardar Patel
On the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to him and urged citizens to take the National Unity Day pledge. He highlighted Patel's role in unifying over 550 princely states into India and called Unity Day a moment of inspiration and pride.
Sardar Patel's Contributions Remembered
PM Modi said, "On the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, I congratulate 1.4 billion Indians. After independence, Sardar Patel accomplished the seemingly impossible task of integrating more than 550 princely states into the Indian Union."
Unity Day Pledge and Parade
During the Unity Day parade, Prime Minister Modi stated, "Today, millions of people took the Unity Pledge. We have decided to promote actions that strengthen the nation's unity. Every thought or action that weakens our unity must be abandoned by every citizen. This is a requirement of our times."
"Unity Day: A Moment of Inspiration and Pride"
He added, "Just as 1.4 billion citizens celebrate Independence Day on August 15 and Republic Day on January 26, Unity Day is equally significant as a moment of inspiration and pride. Events like Run for Unity across the country showcase the enthusiasm of millions and the resolve of a new India."
"We Must Work to Make History"
PM Modi emphasized, "The programs today and yesterday's spectacular events reflected the traditions of the past, the labor and courage of the present, and glimpses of future achievements. Sardar Patel believed we should not waste time in history but work to make history. His policies and decisions created new history."
