National Turmeric Board Launched to Boost Exports

India, the world's largest producer, consumer, and exporter of turmeric, has launched the National Turmeric Board to boost turmeric exports. The board aims to increase turmeric exports to $1 billion by 2030, fulfilling a 40-year-old demand from turmeric farmers.

The National Turmeric Board was inaugurated by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday in Nizamabad, Telangana. Goyal inaugurated the board via video conferencing and mentioned that the board's launch on the occasion of Makar Sankranti was symbolic.

Goyal emphasized that there are significant opportunities to increase turmeric production in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and the board will work towards the development of these regions. He also noted that the primary focus of the board will be on the welfare of turmeric farmers, developing quality varieties, and promoting turmeric exports.
