MPPSC State Engineering Services Exam 2025: Candidate Drop and Exam Changes
In the MPPSC State Engineering Services Exam 2025, only 2,500 candidates will appear for 32 posts, down from 8,000 candidates for 23 posts last year, a decrease of over 5,000 candidates. As a result, the exam, which was supposed to be held in four districts of the state, will now be conducted only in Indore. The exam will not take place in Bhopal, Gwalior, or Jabalpur.
The PSC conducted online applications from January 20 to February 19. This exam will be for posts such as Assistant Engineer (Civil), Assistant Engineer (Electrical Engineering), and Assistant Agriculture Engineer in the Water Resources, Public Health Engineering, and Agriculture Welfare departments. The exam will be held offline in one session (OMR-based).
Dr. Ravindra Panchbhai, OSD at MPPSC, confirmed that the exam will now take place on March 22 in Indore. A revised notification has been issued.
Continuous Decline in Posts
The number of posts in the State Engineering Services Exam has been continuously decreasing. In 2021, a record 493 posts were announced. However, the number dropped to 36 in 2022. There was no vacancy in 2023, and in the previous vacancy of 2024, only 23 posts were announced. This time, only 32 posts have been offered, despite a demand for 400 posts, of which less than 50 were given.
Impact of Bumper Vacancies for Assistant Professors
Meanwhile, the increasing number of vacancies for Assistant Professors has led to a surge in candidates for the State Eligibility Test (SET). The SET will be conducted on March 1 for over 30 subjects, with 146,000 applicants. The admit cards will be available online from February 20. Last year, 121,000 candidates applied. This year, the exam will be held in 12 divisional headquarters of the state, including Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Sagar, Gwalior, Shahdol, Rewa, Ujjain, Khargone, Satna, Narmadapuram, and others.
