CM Mohan Yadav Unveils Bronze Statue of Freedom Fighter Jawaharlal Darda
On May 27, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav visited Seth Govind Das Government District Hospital in Jabalpur and unveiled the bronze statue of senior freedom fighter Shri Jawaharlal Darda. He remarked that Shri Darda had made a significant contribution to India’s independence movement and shared a deep connection with Jabalpur.
Dr. Yadav noted that Darda had also contributed remarkably to the expansion of healthcare services in the region. He emphasized that during the freedom struggle, Jabalpur also held importance for Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who shattered British arrogance by passing the ICS exam at the young age of 23—a time when the British underestimated Indian intellect.
The Chief Minister recalled how Mahatma Gandhi had started the freedom movement from Africa and gave a new direction to the struggle for independence. He also mentioned that many great personalities played invaluable roles in the freedom movement.
Chandra Shekhar Azad and the Spirit of Independence
Dr. Yadav shared that from Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, revolutionary Chandra Shekhar Azad never accepted British rule and remained committed to his vow of living and dying as a free man.
Post-independence, Shri Jawaharlal Darda served in various ministries in Maharashtra for 23 years and worked extensively for social welfare and public interest.
Rapid Growth in Healthcare and Economy in Madhya Pradesh
Dr. Yadav highlighted the progress in healthcare infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh. In 2002–03, there were only 5 medical colleges in the state; now, there are 30, and in two more years, the number will rise to 50.
He stated that Madhya Pradesh is advancing swiftly towards industrial growth. The state's growth rate has reached 12%. In terms of economic progress, per capita income, which was ₹11,000 in 2002–03, has now increased to ₹1.52 lakh.
He further added that India, too, is achieving rapid economic development and has surpassed Japan to become the world’s fourth-largest economy.
