Mithun Manhas Appointed as 37th BCCI President

Mithun Manhas has been appointed as the 37th President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He was unanimously elected during the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 28th September.

This historic appointment makes Mithun Manhas the first uncapped player to become the President of BCCI, and notably, the first person from Jammu & Kashmir to hold this prestigious position.

Manhas had submitted his nomination for the position on 21st September. His selection follows the recommendations of the Lodha Committee formed by the Supreme Court of India, which mandates that the head of BCCI must be a former cricketer.

This move is being seen as a progressive step by Indian cricket, as it brings representation from regions previously underrepresented in the highest ranks of cricket administration.
