Minor Cannot Hold Indian and Foreign Passport Simultaneously

According to the new citizenship rules of the Government of India (May 2026), no minor child is allowed to hold an Indian passport and a foreign passport at the same time.

If a child acquires foreign citizenship, they must surrender their Indian passport. This rule has been made mandatory to eliminate issues related to dual citizenship.
