On February 26, during the Mahashivaratri festival, the final holy dip of the Mahakumbh took place, with 1.53 crore devotees participating. Over the course of the entire Mahakumbh event, a record-breaking 66 crore devotees attended, which is more than the population of 193 countries combined. Only India and China have a larger population than the number of devotees attending the Mahakumbh. The Yogi government claims that half the global Hindu population visited the Mahakumbh.
Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati stated in Bemetra, Chhattisgarh, that the Mahakumbh concluded on the Amavasya (New Moon) of the full moon day of Magh month. The ongoing event is a government-arranged Mahakumbh, and the real Kumbh takes place during the Magh month. The full moon day of Magh month marks the end of the Kumbh when all the Kalpavasis (pilgrims) depart. The Mahakumbh concluded on this day.
Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned, "Over 16,000 trains were run, and we were able to bring around 4 to 5 crore devotees to witness the Mahakumbh at Sangam. There was excellent coordination between all the railway departments, and maintenance issues were kept at bay during the entire 45-day event. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, we ensured that devotees were not treated as a crowd but with respect for their devotion. The coordination between various government departments and the railway provided significant benefits. We will review all the arrangements and make permanent changes to the railway's operational manual."
